Sunshiney Sparrow - Native Remedies PetAlive AmazaPet

I like to keep the kitty natural, so the name ‘Native Remedies’ really caught my eye. Native Remedies PetAlive AmazaPet almost got me jumping off my chair in excitement, that name alone sounds almost too good to be true.

Sparrow’s been a bit unwell lately, but the up-side of that is I get to talk to our vet, a lot. She’s getting used to my odd questions, so after she gave me the go-ahead, I went ahead and got my hands on some of this stuff and so far…so good.

What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is based on the Law of Similars, or ‘like cures like’. Basically, an ailment is cured by administering minute amounts of the same substance that would cause the ailment in a healthy person, or cat, dog, ferret, lizard, bunny…basically anything with a pulse.

Homeopathic medicines are made from natural minerals, herbs and other organic matter. These are crushed to form a tincture, which is then diluted many times over and given to the sick patient to engage the body’s natural healing process.

Over the counter homeopathic remedies are presented as tablets, sprays or liquids and offer short term relief for temporary symptoms. There’s very little risk of side effects and no known interactions with pharmaceutical medicines.

Does Homeopathy Work With Pets?

Herbal Remedies - Native Remedies AmazaPet

Homeopathy relies on giving the correct substance for the sickness, so it can take a bit of tweaking to get it right. It’s recommended to work with a holistic vet who specialises in homeopathy to ensure the correct remedy at the correct dosage. Even over the counter remedies, while reported to be effective, should be discussed with your vet just to be on the safe side. Using the wrong treatment could be completely ineffective, or worse, harmful. Click here for some more detailed information on using homeopathic remedies with your pets.

What’s Good About it?

Good Cat - Native Remedies PetAlive AmazaPet

For a start, PetAlive’s customer service is fantastic. Before I talked to my vet, I emailed the experts with a little bit of information about Sparrow’s troubles and the response I got was nothing short of incredible. Not only did Dottie R answer my question with a recommendation for PetAlive, she also recommended a couple of other products and made suggestions for lifestyle changes around the home to help the little guy out. That’s what I call above and beyond. The rest of the pros…

  • 100% natural and safe.
  • Manufactured in FDA approved facilities.
  • Effective at easing wheezing and chest discomfort.
  • Easy to administer tablets or even easier to administer as a spray.

What’s Questionable?Questionable Cat - Native Remedies PetAlive AmazaPet

Homeopathy and natural remedies in general get a bad rap for the questionable science involved, but many people – and animals – benefit from their gentle support. Some things just work. Still, it’s probably best to use AmazaPet as a complimentary treatment for temporary relief. As always, check with your vet before use and keep a close eye on your sick patient just to be on the safe side.

Then there’s the issue of getting it into your cat; 3-5 times per day is a lot for a kitty to deal with – even for the chronically wheezy and well versed in medication times. If you’re new to cat medicating, check out my guide for some tips.

Does Sparrow Approve?

Sunshiney Sparrow - Native Remedies PetAlive AmazaPet

It’s only been a few days, but so far so good. It seems we’re dealing with a pretty nasty flare-up at the moment, so I’m not expecting too much too soon. Sparrow takes pills well but I can tell he’s getting sick of me throwing things down his throat multiple times per day – he does seem to have some of his bounce back but that could be anything. I’m happy with AmazaPet, and little Sparrow continues to be a champion about all the things he has to deal with – including me.

  1. Hey,

    Very interesting information.

I never knew they had homeopathic products for pets! Great to know.

I have read up a lot on homeopathy and it seems real legit. I mean its natural. I am sure it’s safer than the pills being pumped out by pharmaceutical companies.

It is great that you outlined that homeopathy should be used as a complimentary solution and that getting sound advise from a medical practitioner is key.

Your part talking about PetAlive’s customer service being incredible has already given me a word of mouth recommendation for their products. Although I don’t own a pet personally, my cousin has a dog and I have forwarded this article to her.

Glad to hear Sparrow is doing well.

Keep up the great work getting this information out!

    1. Thanks Janakhan, I never really thought about alternative remedies for pets until I ended up with a special needs case! Agree that it’s a more gentle way of addressing problems, but I do also feel that care needs to be taken with these things. Sometimes we get all caught up in ‘the natural way’ and ignore the other medicines. The key is to find a good balance between the two, I think.

I’m telling everyone about PetAlive’s customer service, too. It’s so fantastic to get personalised advice, there needs to be more of that in the world!

      Thanks for your lovely comment.

    2. Hi Shirley and Sparrow,

Glad to see Sparrow’s reacting well to this new treatment.

I just received the PetAlive pills this morning by mail and as soon as my 1.5 year old cat began one of his daily 3-4 asthma attacks, I gave him 2 pills. The attack stopped instantly! No more attacks all day.

  2. I got to your website only as a matter of chance. ..Wasn’t looking for anything on cats in particular, but I just cant stop reading. I never even thought of it that homeopathic remedies may address conditions that cats suffer from. Thanks for sharing such a wealth of information.

  3. I love the idea of homeopathic remedies for animals. My mom uses something called Rescue Remedy for her furry friends. They are mostly in a quiet home but when the kids and I come to visit the noise and activity turns Maya into the Man-eater. 🙂 That was until my mom’s vet suggested Rescue Remedy, it really helped May’s anxiety and allowed her to relax amongst the added activity and noise. Thanks for spreading the word.

  4. This is a wonderful site – I love exploring natural remedies for my pet. I’m a bit of a nut when it comes to him (an English Bulldog who has his fair share of “issues”). I’m wondering if you have any experience with natural remedies for skin allergies? I’m working through some issues with him right now, and have an appointment to see an allergist but it’s not for 5 weeks!! Anyway, you’ve got a reader in me, this is the sort of stuff that interests me!

    Thanks again for the article!

    1. Aw thanks Helder, I’m glad you’re enjoying my stuff! Now, I don’t know much about bulldogs (except that they’re ridiculously cute) BUT, I just wrote this article on coconut oil that I think you should check out. I use coconut oil on my own skin for itchiness and dryness, maybe you could give it a try on your pup. Come back and let us know how you go with it.

  5. Hi Sparrow You are so lucky to have a mom that is willing to care for you. Some cats in your situation may not have gotten any help for their ailment. Your doubly lucky that your mom believes in herbal and homeopathic remedies. I also think treatment this way is much better for you in the long run.
I often will use herbs or spices as a preventative for my animals.
Although I do not have a cat right now I do have a dog, a bird and a bunch of ducks.
One thing that I give my ducks is turmeric and one plant that I always have on hand is Aloe Vera.
You are a lucky kitty Sparrow all pet owners should be like your mom!

    1. Hi Maureen!

Yeah, my human is pretty good, but I asked her for a bird of my own and she said no…I don’t know why. She also says I’m the worst puppy ever, but I know what dogs smell like and I don’t want to be like that. I still love her though, even when she thinks she’s in charge.

I’ve never met ducks before, they sound tasty.

  6. Hi Shirley,
Wow ! Now this great to know!
I dont have a pet of any description right now although I hope to in the not too distant future !
Im also interested in this because my youngest daughter is about to qualify as a vet in the next few months and she needs to know all the “natural” stuff thats available for consumers as well! Im sure she has had some lectures about acupuncture and alternative therapies but just good for her to be aware of the spectrum of products that available online and in the stores!

    1. Hi Ros,

I hope you get a pet in the not too distant future too, life is so much sweeter with an animal in it. Thanks for taking the time to say hi, hopefully my little Sparrow will encourage you towards getting a cat…just make sure it’s a fully functioning one, working lungs are a blessing!

Send your daughter this way, I’d love to have hear her qualified opinion!

  7. Love this article and great to know that Sparrow is getting better. Homeopathy is definitely the better alternative for our beloved pets compared to the pharmaceutical medicines out there. I am very excited to hear about this homeopathy product. Shall keep in this in mind for both my dog, Ammu and cat, Bubbles. Thanks

    1. Hi Veena, I hope you never have to deal with any respiratory issues in either of your pets. Thanks for saying hi!

  8. Interesting product. I never used homeopathic remedy myself but I had friends using it for themselves. I will verify with my vet if they recommend this. My cat does not need it right now but she is getting older. I will also verify if my alpaca breeder friends have herd about this. Thank you for blogging about homeopathy. It is great to see that there are natural remedies out there.

  9. Very helpful post on native remedies for pets. I was not aware that herbal and homeopathic remedies are available for pets. I feel herbal remedy is more safe than modern medicine. I have a cute cat and would consider this remedy if there is a situation! Thank you for sharing this!

    1. It’s amazing what you can find when you start looking, isn’t it? I had no idea there was such a lot of supportive, natural medicines available either. Thanks for stopping by, Demi.

  10. This is really interesting. I had never heard of this brand or the idea of homeopathy before your article!

I know my furry critter will be happy if he ends up getting sick for any reason I now know what the best natural products are to use. I try and stick him to healthy foods and medicines or cures for minor issues have always been a big concern of mine.

This is especially true when I take him to the vet, I am always worried antibiotics might mess with his kidneys because of how sensitive cats kidneys naturally are.

Thanks for the info once again!

    1. Hi Dalton, nice to see you back here again. Yeah, cats are sensitive little critters, some of their major organs are quite delicate. You’re right, it’s best to start the good kitty health from the inside, with the right food and not too much of it. The homeopathic stuff seems to be working well with Sparrow, I’m actually a bit surprised.

Thanks for taking the time to say hi!

  11. Hi Shirley,
Wow what a fantastic product. I have to admit I never tried using a homeopathic remedy before but friends of mine use it. Would you suggest speaking to a vet first to get their recommendation? As my cat gets older, I wonder if this would be of value. Thanks you so much for creating this page, really useful to know that their are natural remedies out there.Chris

    1. Hi Chris, I absolutely recommend checking with a vet before you try anything like this, particularly if your cat is having health issues. Better to be safe than sorry, I reckon. Thanks for stopping by!

  12. This is an amazing product and since you have tried it, I totally trust that it should work but my only question is that when do you know that your cat needs this since my cat usually doesn’t show the symptoms until it has been a few days for the infection.
Is it okay to give your cat this even if you are sure that they do not have any problems?

    1. Hi Shrey,

nice to see you back here again! I’m not sure why you’d want to give this to your cat if they don’t have any problems, it’d probably be better to address other things like diet and lifestyle rather than reaching for a medication to keep your kitty in good health. If your cat is showing symptoms of any sickness take him to the vet first just to be on the safe side.

  13. I have a cat with asthma and have yet to find a homeopathic remedy that works. I don’t want to give him the harsh drugs our vet recommends so I’m always looking for an alternative. I haven’t tried this product yet. It sounds like it could help. Do you know what the active ingredient is in this?

    1. Hi Scott,

I’m not a fan of giving Sparrow synthetic drugs either, but…I’m no vet and I figure if someone who knows better than me has suggested I get my cat to inhale steroids twice a day, that’s what we’re going to do. I only recommend these over the counter, homeopathic remedies as a support for the prescribed medications, not a replacement. If your cat is having a hard time dealing with side effects, or if you’re interested in treating him with an alternative please discuss this with a holistic vet first.

  14. Who would have thought – homeopathic remedies for pets?

I see some of the products are quite pricey, but I suppose you pay for what you get. It is always a better idea to go natural over chemical I am sure, and because homeopathic remedies work so well on humans, why wouldn’t they work on animals too?

Judging by the looks of Sparrow, these remedies must be working well on him.

    1. Thanks Michel! I don’t use these kinds of remedies on Sparrow all the time, mainly because I believe it’s better to prevent the problem rather than cure it. It’s far better to make sure he’s eating good food and having a good life – those things do much more to keep him wheeze free and happy.
